This morning I finished my BQL challenge quilt for September. It is supposed to be a log cabin quilt but really I would say it is in the log cabin 'style'. It is influenced and inspired by those lovely quilts by Ingrid Press.
I have pieced 4 inch black and white squares with coloured raw edge appliqued central squares. The log cabin effect is gained by the machine quilting design.
Here are some close ups so you can see the quilting. It was all done using the walking foot, using its edge to get the even spacing. It was actually very enjoyable to quilt.
I was pleased with the finished little quilt - it neasures 16 inches square. I acheived the effect I was looking for - I really like the effect of this dense linear quilting.
On Saturday I start my new City & Guilds Certificate - 7113, Creative Techniques. I hope to chart my progress as I go along and hope to post regularly on my other blog. So you might want to pop over sometimes and take a look!
